Southwind Dental Care – Using the Latest in Dental Technology

Technology is always moving forward, and at Southwind Dental Care we strive to move with it. In keeping up with the latest technology, we are able to provide our patients with safer, more effective dentistry that allows for greater comfort and a faster, less painful recovery.

CEREC®

With the CEREC® imaging technology, your restoration can be completed in just one office visit. We can first create an optical impression of your new tooth and then mill it while you wait. The whole process, which used to take weeks, can now be completed in hours. CEREC® eliminates the need for temporary replacements and takes away the time and trouble of a second office visit.

Intraoral Camera

This new development allows both the dentist and the patient to see inside the mouth. A tiny camera takes detailed pictures from inside the patient's mouth, allowing for greater accuracy in the examination and giving patients a unique, clear view of their own dental health. The intraoral camera also uses specialized software that can assist in diagnoses and recommend treatment, in addition to providing the dentist and patient with a clear view of the teeth and gums.

DIAGNOdent® Laser and Air Abrasion

These tools allow our dentists to diagnose and treat dental problems more accurately than ever before, without the pain and discomfort traditionally associated with going to the dentist. With studies showing it to be more than 90 percent accurate, compared to 50 to 70 percent for traditional exams, the DIAGNOdent® laser allows us to detect cavities earlier and keep your teeth healthier. We can then treat these tiny cavities with a process called air abrasion, which eliminates the cavity with a stream of air and special powder. Much gentler than previous methods, patients rarely require anesthesia for either of these procedures. The DIAGNOdent® laser and air abrasion system are delicate enough to identify and treat much smaller areas of decay than previously thought possible, letting our dentists keep these small dental problems from becoming big ones.

Zoom!®

The Zoom!® teeth whitening system uses a unique hydrogen peroxide-based gel and specialized light to whiten teeth dramatically after less than an hour. In addition to the in-office Zoom!® teeth whitening system, Southwind Dental Care offers the Zoom!® Weekender Kit, including trays that we customize to fit your mouth. This alternative to the in-office procedure allows you to whiten your teeth in the comfort of your own home and at your own convenience.

Isolite™ System

The Isolite™ System makes dental examinations faster and easier for both dentists and patients. A specialized mouthpiece lights up the inside of the patient's mouth, and allows him or her to relax the jaw muscles. Plus, the Isolite™ System keeps the throat clear of debris and features a suction element that eliminates the need for dams and cotton balls. With the time saved by the Isolite™ System, the dentist can finish faster; plus, the patient is more relaxed and comfortable.
